September 27, 2007

another week goes by...

Trudging along at the new job and am happy to report that things are going really well. It's a lot of hours as I had recently reported but somehow still doesn't feel like a real job....well I guess it does at times but for the most part I'm loving the animals and all that goes with it. Today we are adding a new addition to the menagerie, a pretty aqua blue parakeet that I am going to hand tame. More fun at the madhouse (our little cottage)

My pal Chris from Michigan came by last weekend for a short visit. Gosh it was nice to finally meet her in person. She came with her husband Don and daughter Chelsea to pick up some pretty beds that I had. Chris has a great house and I'm sure she won't mind me sharing a pic.  I adore the cabinet here on the right and have to get one! Disclaimer-Chris would want me to say that she is still working on this room, just as we all are in our own spaces, but I have to say she is on the right road here.

We found a few fun things this week at the flea market too. They are childhood treasures, only not mine. LOL. I actually did have a pajama bag like this....Pjbag

and look at this lamp. She's a hard resin material with a fabric skirt and an old lampshade although not original to the lamp. I guess I was having a nostalgic day when I picked these up.

I really have no place for her, my little girls are grown now. I think I'll put her on Ebay this weekend and maybe she'll run across someone who has a need or want for her.

I'm going to take my camera to work tomorrow and show you some of the finest salespeople in town. Sure they're a little hairy and they drool a bit but I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful they are to work with. Be sure to tune in.

I've been gone too long again

Hi. Again I must apologize for my disappearing act. I wasn't really gone though, I'm just adjusting again. A few changes here, rather big ones.

I found a job that I really like! I am the new sales manager for a pet store franchise! As you probably already know I love animals and this is probably the best thing that I can do for a living. I help find animals homes and that is pretty darn rewarding. There are so many good points to this position that it outweighs the bad, although the bad still requires some tweaking and thats the hours. I am working 5 days a week, 10 hour shifts and they are all noon'ish til 10 at night. Needless to say that alone is brutal.

I'm an early riser and can't sleep in...well maybe I could if the rest of the house and neighborhood did. Unfortunately everyone elses lives don't stop because I work long strange hours. This will be the part that I have to fine tune because getting up at 6am and working on my feet til 10 at night makes a girl pretty tired at the end of the day.

Due to time constraints, I'm also closing up the website and will only be selling on Ebay now. Of course that doesn't mean that I won't still be looking for treasures in my off time, so let me share some new pretties with you.

Enesco

Aren't these darling! They're old Enesco pieces, reminds me of Jack and Jill. They stand 8.5" tall and have no cracks or chips.

Basket

How darling is this sewing basket! Pretty yellow roses on the red background.

Pots

Here is my growing stash of McCoy and ? The aqua and yellow embossed ones in the center are not marked, does anyone know if they're McCoy too?

Last but not least....my oldest daughter Sarah is ENGAGED! Yeah!!!!! Here is the pretty ring. The date is set for October of 08 and we are tickled! They are in the process of not only planning a wedding but looking for a home. It's going to be a big year around here!

The weekend

Hi. I just wanted to wish everyone a great Labor Day weekend. If you live in the Midwest, you know we are having fabulous weather for the holiday. It's quite unusual as I recall it rains at least one day, sometimes more on this holiday weekend. We are wrapping up the barbeque season with one for the youngest daughter and friends this evening and then my Mom and friend tomorrow. Yesterday we went to the Kane County Flea Market with camera in bag, did I take a few pictures? Nope, completely forgot. If you remember last I blogged about that particular flea I did get a few pics but then got so caught up that I never snapped another.

On the way home we stopped to look in a park that borders a river here. The park had this fabulous windmill

Genevawindmill

and this great old Indian statue

On Friday I received some great barkcloth from Polly. Polly sells on Ebay and has a fabulous blog that I love to visit. She is a wealth of information and so very, very nice. Thanks Polly, I adore this. It's going to make a great ottoman slipcover!

Fabric1

What is this dirty jade chair you ask?? Well I got this at the Flea for $5 and it's awaiting a good scrubbing out in the yard. Don't you love the color?!

This is a gift that I received from my dear friend Andrea. It's an angel sachet, just beautiful and you should see what a fine seamstress Andrea is, tiny little perfect stitches. Thank you Andrea-love ya! Andrea handcrafted a few other items for me which I will show you on my next Christmas Countdown post.

Sachet

This next picture is a gift from my friend Chris. Chris is my fabulous friend from Michigan, the one with the very cool house that I blogged about a month or so ago. I wish I had more pics to show you of her home because it was once a Stagecoach stop for folks heading up to Mackinac Island. I can't imagine having a house that old, it should probably be on HGTV's If Walls Could Talk, ahhh the stories it could tell. Anyhow this lil Marilyn pic in the cool frame is going to hang above my desk. Thanks Chris, I love it!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
