Winter Blahs
Another 6" of snow....will it ever end? We are on record for the snowiest winter here in Chicago in the last ten years....I wish it were for the most sun or warmest temps....BUT NOOOOOOOOO! I'm tired of trying to make the best of it too! To hell with that. It's depressing and we are in serious need of warmer temps, sun and green grass (the kind in your lawn, although if it were the other we probably wouldn't feel so bad about the weather)
Did you hear about the horrible shooting at the Lane Bryant store here in Tinley Park, IL.? I was absolutely horrified having worked in retail management all my life, as well as my daughter Sarah working for Lane Bryant for a few years, it seemed to hit really close to home. I fell into a a funk from that and it was just this past weekend that I was able to get to the Memorial that has been built outside the shop. Such a sad, sad place. Words just can't express how I still feel about this.
The 5 white crosses have pictures of the victims on them. There are layers and layers of roses, notes, stuffed animals, etc. It took my breath away.
On a happier note, we've been busy making lots of pretties for Spring. It sure improves your mood to busy yourself with stuff like this.
You can do this with a few bits from the craft store and a vintage teacup and saucer
this requires a bit more work
I have not forgotten about the 'GIVEAWAY'. I'm just trying to make it really splashy because of how late I am now. Look for it this weekend!!!
If whilst reading this you're in the icy tundra like us in Chicago, I send you my condolences. If you're in warm, sunny temps....please, please invite me for a visit!
See you all this weekend!

I love the ideas you have for ushering in Spring. Love the inspiration with tea cups & saucers. I might have to visit Michael's this weekend. Sunny Southern California is 75-80 degrees today....wanna come over?
Blessings,
Debbie Kay

What a terrible tragedy...so many terrible tragedies. What is going on with this world? We had a family shooting not far from here in which a SWAT officer was killed & another wounded. Yet, even when these horrific crimes happen thousands of miles away we are all stunned & saddened. It breaks my heart for innocent people to lose their lives by demented evil minded ones.
I hope your spirit lifts up with Spring time & new beginnings...it is warm here, but in fact, it gets too hot too fast, like today & there is no gentle entry of Spring...it barely exists here.

Hi! No, I hadn't heard about the Lane Bryant shooting. My husband is in retail and between the thieves and just crazy people, he has lots of interesting stories to tell.
It's spring here - the daffodils are blooming at least although it's freezing cold in the a.m. and then warms up in the afternoon. I've been able to get out and start gardening already.
Love the bird nest in the teacup -I'll have to make that!
Take care,
Manuela

Hi Lisa,
So glad you are still here.
I did not hear about that shooting.
Just awful!!! So sorry about your horrible weather. You are welcome at my house anytime.
It's in the 70's today, and it is bright and sunny. Spring is nearly here.
Love your pretty bird decor.
Talk soon,
Rosemary

Lisa, One of the victims is from my town South Bend. It was so sad cause he went on a local channel, the husband, and asked if he and his family could please be left alone to grieve. So many reporters and such were scaring the kids and burdening the family. We to had a big dump of snow, but think about it...before we know it the humidity will be melting us!!! Lori

Glad to see that you are back! I too am looking forward to the arrival of spring! At least we've had a little milder weather lately which makes winter more tolerable but spring is always appreciated! If someone invites you for a visit, can I come along too?!

I'm in icy tundra here in NH. We have had 108 inches of snow this winter! I can't see out of my downstairs windows right now.
